Gulp. First day of Kindergarten. Whether it is your first, second, and in my case, third or fourth babe going to kinder it always feels like a big step. This is a moment that Adysen has been waiting for since the day that we dropped Kaitlyn off at kinder 2 years ago.
She has been waiting, and waiting, and WAITING for her chance to start school. She has had her clothes chosen and set out along with her backpack since Kaitlyn's first day of second grade on Wednesday. She has been reading and re-reading her favorite books, practicing her counting to 100+ by 1's, 2's, 5's, and 10's. She has been writing the alphabet and practicing letter sounds like its her job. She is ready.
Last night she sprinkled some of her own "sleeping dust" under her pillow (amazing how that stuff works) and woke up this morning rested, excited and ready for some fun.
I dont know if it is because she is the second born, or because she is so tiny in stature and so big in personality or maybe because she is full of spirit, spunk, and love. Quite possibly it is a combo of each but this morning arrived and I didn't feel ready to drop her off at the kinder doors. Lump in throat, knot in stomach, not ready for this moment kinda feeling. She was so ready. Me? Not so much. She said she was nervous when we pulled up but she hopped out of the van, threw on her pink and white polka dot backpack that is wider than she is, and proudly marched herself to the kinder playground ready to conquer the world. Brian, Colton, Mason and I hung around and watched her play and eventually line up and head into the classroom. She walked proudly, confident, and ready.
I kept thinking-No tears, dont cry, don't do it. Be strong.
Adysen. You are ready to conquer the world. You are going to have so much fun this year in Kindergarten. You are so excited to make new friends and I am excited for you. I am going to miss our girl time together and will feel lost without my girl to talk to throughout the morning. You are going to brighten the day of your classmates and teacher.
I hope to be as cool as you someday.
